Times-Table Sprint
Pick a times table — or all of them — and answer as many as you can in a minute. Hard asks some backwards: 7 × ? = 56. A run of right answers multiplies your points.
The Times-Table Sprint is the quickest way to make the times tables automatic. Pick one table from 2 to 12, or all of them, and answer as many facts as you can in a minute.
How to play Times-Table Sprint
- Choose a table, or All, and a level. Easy is × 1 to × 10, normal × 1 to × 12.
- Hard mixes in facts backwards — 7 × ? = 56 — which is what really knowing a table means.
- Type each answer; it is judged the moment it has enough digits. A wrong one waits to be answered again.
Scoring
- Every right answer scores, and a run of right answers multiplies the points.
- Your best is kept for each table and level separately.
No clock
- Choose No clock to play twenty sums, however long they take. A wrong answer still only breaks your combo, and a no-clock game keeps its own best, apart from the minute’s.
Tips
- Drill one table at a time until it is quick, then play All.
- The backwards facts are division in disguise: 7 × ? = 56 is 56 ÷ 7.
Play it with friends
- On your own, against the characters — each plays the game by its own rules the moment it starts, so there is always somebody to beat.
- With friends, each on their own phone or laptop: one of you shows a code, the others type it in, and everybody gets exactly the same game on the same Go.
- Taking turns on one device — pass it round, and each turn is scored against the turns before.
