Speed Maths
A minute of sums — add, subtract, multiply and divide, or just the one you want to drill. The next sum arrives the moment you answer, and a run of right answers multiplies your points.
Speed Maths is a minute of mental arithmetic. Sums arrive one at a time — 37 + 48, 9 × 7, 84 ÷ 12 — and the next appears the moment you answer. Play all four operations mixed, or drill the one you want to get faster at.
How to play Speed Maths
- Choose the operations — all four, or just one — and a level, which sets how big the numbers are.
- Type the answer. There is no Enter: an answer is judged the moment it has as many digits as the right one.
- A wrong answer clears and the same sum waits for you. Pass skips it and shows the answer.
- You have one minute.
Scoring
- Each sum is worth points by its operation, more on harder levels.
- A run of right answers builds a combo that multiplies your points; a wrong answer or a pass breaks it.
No clock
- Choose No clock to play twenty sums, however long they take. A wrong answer still only breaks your combo, and a no-clock game keeps its own best, apart from the minute’s.
Tips
- Add in two steps: 37 + 48 is 37 + 50, then take away 2.
- Division always comes out whole, so think of it as the times table backwards.
Play it with friends
- On your own, against the characters — each plays the game by its own rules the moment it starts, so there is always somebody to beat.
- With friends, each on their own phone or laptop: one of you shows a code, the others type it in, and everybody gets exactly the same game on the same Go.
- Taking turns on one device — pass it round, and each turn is scored against the turns before.
