Typing Race
Everybody gets the same paragraph and the same countdown. Your runner moves with every letter you get right. Two to nine players.
The typing race is the simplest test there is: everybody gets the same paragraph and the same countdown, and whoever reaches the full stop first wins. It is the quickest way to find out whether all that practice has made you faster than your friends.
How to play Typing Race
- Choose a short, medium or long passage and press Go.
- Type the passage. Your runner moves with every letter you get right.
- A wrong key does not move you on — the cursor waits for the right one, so a mistake costs time rather than leaving a typo.
- The first to finish wins; everybody else is placed by how far they got.
Scoring
- Places are decided by who finishes first, then by how far through the passage each player is.
- Your speed in words per minute and your accuracy are shown at the end.
Tips
- Keep your eyes on the text, not on your hands — looking down is where the seconds go.
- Accuracy wins races: every wrong key is time spent finding the right one.
Play it with friends
- On your own, against the characters — each plays the game by its own rules the moment it starts, so there is always somebody to beat.
- With friends, each on their own phone or laptop: one of you shows a code, the others type it in, and everybody gets exactly the same game on the same Go.
- Taking turns on one device — pass it round, and each turn is scored against the turns before.
