Don’t Tap!
One signal at a time under a rule that is always on screen — “Tap GREEN. Ignore RED.” Tap the ones it asks for before they go, and leave the rest alone. A STOP sign means hands off until it goes. The rules change, always announced first.
Don’t Tap! trains inhibition — the skill of not doing the thing your hand is already on its way to do. One signal appears at a time under a rule that is always on screen, and most of the game is about the ones you leave alone.
How to play Don’t Tap!
- Read the rule at the top — for example, “Tap GREEN. Ignore RED.”
- Signals appear one at a time. Tap the ones the rule asks for before they go.
- Leave every other signal alone, and when a STOP sign shows, keep your hands off until it goes.
- The rule changes during the game, and every change is announced on screen before it takes effect.
Scoring
- A right tap is 10 points, and up to 5 more for a quick one. Holding still through a STOP sign is worth 10.
- Leaving alone a signal the rule does not want is a good decision too: it keeps your run going, and five good decisions in a row start multiplying your points, up to three times.
- Missing a signal you should have tapped costs 5; tapping one the rule forbids costs 10.
No clock
- Choose No clock to play twenty rounds at your own pace: each round waits twice as long, there is no bonus for speed, and a wrong answer or a miss costs nothing — it only breaks your combo. A no-clock game keeps its own best, apart from the timed one’s.
Tips
- Rest your finger off the screen between signals — a hovering finger taps before you have decided.
- When a rule change is announced, say the new rule to yourself once.
Play it with friends
- On your own, against the characters — each plays the game by its own rules the moment it starts, so there is always somebody to beat.
- With friends, each on their own phone or laptop: one of you shows a code, the others type it in, and everybody gets exactly the same game on the same Go.
- Taking turns on one device — pass it round, and each turn is scored against the turns before.
