Pattern Breaker
A row with a rule running through it — the same shape, a repeating cycle of colours, a number sequence, arrows turning steadily — and one item that breaks it. Find it. Practice shows why after every answer.
Pattern Breaker trains pattern recognition. Each row has a rule running through it — the same shape, a repeating cycle of colours, a number sequence, arrows turning steadily — and exactly one item that does not follow it.
How to play Pattern Breaker
- Look along the row and work out its rule.
- Tap the one item that breaks it.
- In Practice there is no clock, and after every answer the game shows the rule and why the item broke it.
Scoring
- A right answer is 10 points, and up to 5 more for a quick one.
- Five good decisions in a row start multiplying your points, up to three times.
- A wrong answer, or running out of time, costs 5.
No clock
- Choose No clock to play twenty rounds at your own pace: each round waits twice as long, there is no bonus for speed, and a wrong answer or a miss costs nothing — it only breaks your combo. A no-clock game keeps its own best, apart from the timed one’s.
Tips
- Check one property at a time — shape, then colour, then size, then direction.
- With numbers, look at the gaps between them: a steady step or a doubling is usually the rule.
Play it with friends
- On your own, against the characters — each plays the game by its own rules the moment it starts, so there is always somebody to beat.
- With friends, each on their own phone or laptop: one of you shows a code, the others type it in, and everybody gets exactly the same game on the same Go.
- Taking turns on one device — pass it round, and each turn is scored against the turns before.
