Key Snap
A letter appears — press that key as fast as you can. Easy keeps to the home row and lights the key; hard lights nothing, so your fingers have to know where it is.
Key Snap tests reaction and keyboard knowledge together: a letter appears, and you press that key as fast as you can. It is a quick way to find out which keys your fingers really know.
How to play Key Snap
- Rest your fingers on the home row.
- A letter appears after a short wait. Press that key.
- Easy keeps to the home row and lights the key; hard lights nothing, so your fingers have to find it on their own.
- A wrong key costs points and the same letter waits.
Scoring
- Each answer is worth what is left of its par time, so faster is more.
- A wrong key costs 100 points, and so does a press under 100 milliseconds — quicker than anybody can read a letter.
- Easy is twelve letters, normal twenty and hard thirty.
Tips
- Return to the home row after every press — it is where every reach starts.
- Play easy until the home row is quick, then normal for the whole alphabet; hard, with nothing lit, shows which keys your fingers really know.
- The finger chart shows which finger owns each key, if a letter keeps catching you out.
Play it with friends
- On your own, against the characters — each plays the game by its own rules the moment it starts, so there is always somebody to beat.
- With friends, each on their own phone or laptop: one of you shows a code, the others type it in, and everybody gets exactly the same game on the same Go.
- Taking turns on one device — pass it round, and each turn is scored against the turns before.
