Box breathing
Four equal sides: breathe in for a count of four, hold for four, breathe out for four, hold for four. The steady count gives the mind one simple thing to do.
What the session says
- Find a comfortable way to sit, with your back tall and your shoulders soft. Rest your hands wherever they feel easy.
- Let your eyes close, or rest your gaze on a spot on the floor a little ahead of you.
- Follow the circle: it grows as you breathe in, rests as you hold, and shrinks as you breathe out.
- Breathe in
- Hold
- And out
- Let your breathing go back to its own rhythm. Wiggle your fingers and toes, and when you are ready, open your eyes.
- Well done for taking this time.
