The Mini Crossword is a small daily crossword: eight or so words on one theme, crossing each other on a compact grid. It takes a few minutes, and everybody gets the same one each day.
How to play Mini Crossword
- Read a clue and type the answer into its squares.
- Move between squares with the arrow keys or by tapping; the clue for the word you are in is shown.
- Letters you share with a crossing word help with the clue you are stuck on.
- Check the grid as you go, or race your friends to fill it first.
Scoring
- Every right square is 10 points, and filling the whole grid is 500 more.
- Each hint takes 50 off.
Tips
- Start with the clues you are sure of — the crossings give you letters for the rest.
- Every word is on the day’s theme, so the theme is a clue in itself.
Play it with friends
- On your own, against the characters — each plays the game by its own rules the moment it starts, so there is always somebody to beat.
- With friends, each on their own phone or laptop: one of you shows a code, the others type it in, and everybody gets exactly the same game on the same Go.
- Taking turns on one device — pass it round, and each turn is scored against the turns before.
