Questions people ask

How do I work out what a habit costs me?

Multiply the per-occasion cost by frequency to get the annual figure, then compound that annual figure over the horizon you care about. The second step is what turns an unremarkable number into an informative one.

Is this meant to make me give things up?

No. It is meant to price them, so the ones you keep are kept deliberately. A habit worth ₹40,000 a year that you genuinely value is a reasonable purchase. The same amount spent on something you have stopped noticing is not.

What is the compounding cost of a daily habit?

₹150 a day is about ₹54,750 a year. Invested at 12% for twenty years that becomes roughly ₹44 lakh. This is the opportunity cost, not a debt — but it is the honest comparison.
